Hello! It’s been a while. I am busy writing a book (more to come on that later) and it’s taking all. my. time. I’m sorry for the inspiration gap. But today’s post is worth the wait!
Last November, I interviewed Samara Caughey, owner of the famous children’s art studio Purple Twig, and one very creative and inspiring art teacher out in LA. Definitely click over and read the interview if you are interested in arts education, and if you want to see lots of incredible children’s art.
Samara influences me in so many ways, igniting a spark in me every time I see a new blog post or Instagram photo. Last summer, I recreated one of her projects in my art camp — these faaab sock caterpillars. How cute are these guys?
Please click over to Samara’s blog post for the directions and some adorable photos of her mommy-and-me class making the most endearing little caterpillars you’ve ever seen.
And here are a few more of my favorites from the Purple Twig blog:
Oh, and you must follow Purple Twig on Instagram. Seeing her little students’ creations puts a smile on my face each and every time.
Thanks for all of your fab ideas, Samara. You have the best imagination!

PS: Here are some bad photos from a library event I did recently. It was in their basement so it had terrible lighting and ambience, but you can see how I set this up for a large group. Tip: buy double the amount of stuffing that you think you need!
