If you’ve never tried using freezer paper to make a stencil, what have you even been doing? But really, I was so surprised by how professional this looked that I was starting to wonder why I wasn’t printing something on every plain t-shirt that I own. The process is very simple, you don’t need a fancy silkscreen or squeegee or even a big space – you can even do this on the floor.
I wrote all about the process and made a video tutorial on my Patreon if you want to learn more, plus a supply list and a download of this design. You can also just play around with the materials and make something original yourself! I’ll include some tips here for getting started:
- Draw your design on the dull side of the freezer paper.
- Cut with an X-Acto knife on a cutting mat.
- Iron the stencil onto a pre-washed T-shirt on a cotton setting with no steam for about a minute.
- Use a stencil brush and fabric paint to fill in the design by lightly dabbing, coating the surface two times.
- Let the paint dry, then peel off the stencil.
- Iron the painted area before washing.
