One week until my favorite holiday of the year! I love Thanksgiving (and this DIY Thanksgiving Banner). It’s so much more relaxing than that December holiday. Four days of being with family is just what I need in the middle of this hectic book tour.
Last year, I woke up very early on Thanksgiving morning and set the table and drew this table banner. We were leaving at 8am to go into New York City to watch the Macy’s Day Parade. It was a gorgeous day, perfect for the parade. The light in the morning in my living room / art room / dining room is just exquisite. I love this photo below of the banner, ready and waiting for our return.
Supplies needed for DIY Thanksgiving Banner:
~ White paper roll (or brown paper roll)
~ Pencil and a Sharpie
~ Watercolors (I like these palette watercolors and these neon ones)
~ Brushes and water
After I got the house ready, we took off for NYC and the parade. Thought I would share these two photos. We are super lucky to know someone who lives up above Central Park West – the very best viewing spot!!
When we got home, we did lots of outside activities (and kitchen activities) so nobody started on the banner until it got dark (and everyone got into PJs). We finished the next morning.
This was an amazing collaborative effort! I even prodded family members to get up off the couch and just paint a teeny spot. We still have this hanging on our living room wall, a year later, reminding us to be grateful for every day.
Happy Thanksgiving!
