Whenever I receive a box of clothes from a client who wants a quilt, I go through each piece so that I can get a feel for who they are. This quilt, for a 6-year old girl, was one of my favorites. I loved her sense of fashion and color: Red heart tights, graphic tees, well-loved jeans. I decided to use a black t-shirt as the center because it just summed her up so well: “This is my little black dress”.
I made this quilt for my son. I used his favorite clothes from when he was a baby…or perhaps I should say my favorite clothes.
His pirate pj’s were the most loved and worn. When he grew out of them, I used the top in his quilt. But the wee pants, I put in me son’s baby box…Arrrr!
I made 20 quilted books to send to magazines to promote Tender Threads. I used scraps from quilts I had made all year. They turned out really cute and I ended up landing a page in Connecticut Cottages & Gardens! Love that magazine.
